Jalen, of Jalen's Bakery, heads to New York for his national TV debut

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Monday marked an exciting day for one of the Central Valley's youngest entrepreneurs, who is now in the national spotlight.

Jalen Bailey, 8, the proud owner of Jalen's Bakery traveled to New York on Monday to make an appearance on the Rachel Ray Show.

We first brought you Jalen's story in July when he told us he started the business to buy his mom a house. We caught up with him and his mother at Fresno-Yosemite International Airport before they got ready to board.

This is Jalen's first trip to New York, but he says he is most excited to learn how to improve his product.

"I'm going to say, what can she teach me? To make better cookies and maybe to get a few more customers," said Jalen.

Jalen will be baking his famous peanut butter cookies with the TV chef. Jalen and his mother bake out of their rental home. Specialties include cookies and banana nut loafs.
