BBQ helps raise money for wounded correctional officers

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A fundraiser barbecue being held right now to help raise money for the two correctional officers allegedly shot by Thong Vang.

The barbecue goes until 4 p.m. Thursdays afternoon. It's being held at the North Annex Jail parking lot at Fresno Street and L Street.

Officer Juanita Davila is up and walking around. Authorities say she is now going through physical therapy. She said she appreciates support from the community and is in good spirits.

Officer Malama Scanlan is now able to communicate with expression and has increased movement in his arms and legs. A GoFundMe account has already raised nearly $24-thousand dollars for their medical care. Click here to donate
