Stolen gun recovered from gang member, police say

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A suspect is in jail this morning after Fresno Police say they caught him with a stolen gun and a high capacity magazine.

Police say someone called yesterday about 21-year-old Edward Wingfield, saying he was armed with a gun near Bardell and George in Southwest Fresno. Witnesses say he was showing the handgun in his waistband to people driving by.

Police later caught Windfield and recovered the gun which came up stolen. The magazine is also illegal.

Police say Wingfield is a gang member who has been shot twice. He faces a variety of weapon charges.
