FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Some of Fresno's first responders are making a difference in the lives of children while having some fun at the Big Fresno Fair.

Jacob of Clovis enjoyed his time with some Fresno firefighters Thursday night. It was all part of an annual program called Creating Memories.

Firefighters escort the family of a child with special needs at the fairgrounds. They play games and of course eat some of that famous fair food.

The firefighters volunteer time on their days off to make sure kids do not have to miss out on the fun.

"It's so heart warming. We just sent the crews off and I told the crews to make sure the family has a great time and I look at the kids and I say, you know what, we have a better time than you do," said Rick McClung, Captain Fresno Fire Department.

For 22 years firefighters with the Fresno Fire Department have hosted a child with special needs each night of the fair.
