Central Valley honor flight honors local WWII veterans and Korean War veterans by sending them to see their memorials in Washington D.C.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of veterans are getting ready to take the trip of a lifetime.

This is the 12th flight since the program's inception in 2013. Central Valley Honor Flight has raised $2 million for our local veterans.

Central Valley honor flight honors local WWII veterans and Korean War veterans by sending them to see their memorials in Washington D.C. Since May 2013, the all-volunteer group has sent almost 500 veterans and their travel "guardians" on several trips. The idea behind it is to commemorate their sacrifice and honor their service to our country.

This is Al Perry's final trip as board president.
