FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Fresno man was convicted of a hate crime after beating and running over a Sikh man with a car.

The suspect, 23-year-old Daniel Wilson, is now going back to jail. He faces up to eight years in prison for attacking 68-year-old Amrik Singh Bal the day after Christmas.

The attack was caught on camera and prosecutors said Bal was targeted for wearing a turban and middle eastern robes.

"I'm relieved. I'm happy for Mr. Bal. I think justice is going to be meated out as it should. It's a horrible despicable crime and I'm happy that we brought the man who did this to him to justice," said Timothy Donovan, Snr Dep. District Attorney.

Wilson was one of two people arrested in the case. The second suspect., Alexis Mendoza, who prosecutors said was driving the car committed suicide.

Wilson will be back in court in December for his sentencing.
