VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A South Valley father has died after investigators say three men dressed in hoodies and wearing bandannas covering their faces went inside a home and shot the man and then ran away.

The incident happened on the outskirts of Visalia at a home near K Road and Ben Maddox.

Sheriff's deputies said the victim was home with his wife and two young kids at the time. They said this type of crime is often connected to drugs.

"We've had a number of home invasions and it always happens somewhat about this time of year, because we have the Marijuana harvest. A lot of money, a lot of finished product. We don't know if this is involved in that but we do have problems with home invasions in this time of year," said Lt Jim Franks, Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

Investigators are searching for the suspects and interviewing neighbors about what they saw and heard.

If you know anything you should call the Tulare County Sheriff's Office.
