CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) --In a time where e-mail, text and social media are the go-to forms of communication one woman is bringing back a time honored tradition.
"I liked how versatile it was and how I could make it my own," said Kyli Frauenheim, Kyligraphy Hand Lettering and Design owner.
Frauenheim is bringing calligraphy back-- or Kyligraphy.
"This one was something that I kinda delved into and social media played a big part of it. I was able to search hashtags on Instagram and look at things on the web about this art form that is hand lettering and calligraphy."
Sifting through her likes and dislikes of the countless calligraphy styles and adaptations Frauenheim's font turned into a business. You can order her products through her Instagram page or learn how to do it yourself with monthly classes she does at Urban Umbrella in Old Town Clovis.
"If I can give them the start to something that they really enjoy that changes their life then I've done something that makes me happy too," said Frauenheim.
"I wanted to host classes in here so people could have the opportunity to have a fun evening out," said Amy Cortell, Urban Umbrella owner.
Cortell said the idea came after looking for classes for herself. As part of a military family the Ohio native has relocated several times using clubs and classes to connect to her neighbors.
"I want to get out in the community and get involved and put down roots other than just on base."
Cortell uses her storefront to offer a unique getaway from life's daily challenges.
"I can be that space where people can come connect and have a good time."
