FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Students at Edison High School are helping local families in need celebrate Thanksgiving without food insecurity.

The teens collected more than 8,600 food items. Those items were distributed to families at the high school Saturday morning in an event sponsored by West Fresno Ministries.

"They have some cans, some soup, some corn, some green beans, some Mac 'N Cheese, stuffing and two chickens," senior Leslee Perez said. "So, a good Thanksgiving meal."

The families in the southwest Fresno community had to first stop by booths to get info about local free services before they could receive their free food box.
