FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds checked out extra discounts at K-Mart on Thanksgiving. K-Mart was one of a few retailers open early Thursday morning.

"It was a little bit overwhelming. I got here at 5:45 because I like to be early and the line went from our door to the Lowe's parking lot. So there were definitely a lot of people very excited to come and check out our sale," said Sarah Garber, K-Mart.

From sales on Christmas trees to buy one get one free on all outerwear, many here were excited to get out of the house and take advantage of some extra discounts.

"We just purchased our first home so we wanted to come out. They have great deals on Black Friday, on the Christmas things so we wanted to purchase our first tree to go with our new home," said Laura Fees, Clovis.

"So far so good, I saw a few deals like this jacket but I'm looking at a TV now that I might buy," said Emmanuel Estrada, Fresno.

Our exclusive Action News poll conducted by Survey USA found 84-percent would not be shopping on Thanksgiving this year. About a third of people said they have already started their holiday shopping and 28-percent said they will wait until after Thanksgiving.

Angelica Ball told us she headed to K-Mart just to get the kids out of the house until the turkey was done.

"Just shopping for Thanksgiving and spending time with my friends and family for Thanksgiving."
