What started in the early morning hours as a steady downpour turned hazardous by sundown.

"I've never seen this before," said Vida Tamayo, Fresno.

City of Fresno crews moved from one neighborhood to the next trying to relieve an overloaded flood control system.

Neighbors had three choices, stay home, travel by kayak like one resident did, or take their chances on the road.

Farther north, county crews were forced to close a large section of Auberry Road. The road leading to the Fresno Rifle and Pistol Club typically floods but the water completely overtook the road.

Little Dry Creek refused to live up to its name-- at least until the water recedes.

"Over the past couple of years it's barely a trickle. I know we need the rain but so much so fast is definitely pretty scary," said Hazel Earley, Fresno.

Back in East Central Fresno no water was left but there is debris and lots of it on front yards. It is certainly a mess for some people to clean up Thursday morning.

Here is a map of the flooding pictures that have been sent to us:

Barstow Ave. and Jasmine Ave. in Clovis.
