Rep. Nunes: Trump communications may have been 'monitored'
Claims that President Donald Trump and his team were under surveillance now back in the spotlight with new evidence.

WASHINGTON (KFSN) -- Stunning revelations from Representative Devin Nunes.

"What I've read bothers me and I think it should bother the President."

Claims that President Donald Trump and his team were under surveillance now back in the spotlight with new evidence.

"This is information that was brought to me that I thought the President needed to know," said Nunes.

Nunes would not say what evidence he had and said the new information does not prove former President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower phones.

But when asked if he felt vindicated President Trump said, "I somewhat do-- I very much appreciated the fact they found what they found."

Nunes went straight to the White House with the information-- concerning to the members of his committee like Democratic Representative Adam Schiff.

"Unfortunately, I think the actions of today throw great doubt into the ability of both the chairman and the committee to conduct the investigation the way it ought to be conducted."

Right now, the intelligence committee is investigating claims that Russia colluded with the Trump team during the 2016 election.

Professor Ken Friesen of Fresno Pacific University argues the integrity of the investigation could be damaged.

"It simply adds to the general, to me, distrust of any of the politicians that are bringing this, Democrat or Republican, that are bringing these unfounded claims up or mysterious claims up."

Nunes says he has only seen the documents but does not have the physical copies and wants intelligence agencies to provide it officially so the Intelligence Committee can review it.

In the meantime, Schiff of the Intelligence Panel is calling for an independent team to investigate these claims.
