FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In Madera County, two people are in custody for selling counterfeit products, including mislabeled pharmaceuticals.

Authorities arrested 60-year-old Nicholas Ramirez and 42-year-old Iyad Alijaal during a search of five retailers suspected of profiting from fake goods. Ramirez is suspected of selling a large quantity of misbranded medications at Del Valle Food, including the powerful pain killer Tramadol.

Many of the drugs were illegally imported from Mexico and are not approved by USDA.

Alijaal was arrested when more than 900 professional sports jerseys were confiscated at the store "Casa Nova Fashion and Wireless."

Investigators said searches are part of an on-going probe regarding illegal shipments from China.
