2 people struck by blow darts on Golden Gate Bridge
Two visitors walking on the Golden Gate Bridge Friday afternoon were hit by blow darts.

SAN FRANCISCO -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a bizarre attack on the Golden Gate Bridge. Someone armed with a blow gun shot darts at two visitors walking across the bridge.

It happened around 2 p.m. Friday on the east sidewalk of the span. Two different people were each hit with a blow dart as they were on the bridge walking toward Vista Point in Sausalito.

The two people were not seriously injured. They were treated by a paramedic at Vista Point and then released.

The CHP wants to track down the person or people who did this. They showed us both blow darts are about four inches long. One of them penetrated one victim's thigh pretty deep.

CHP Officer Andrew Barclay told ABC7 News, "It was able to actually go through his jeans and into this leg by about two inches."

As paramedics arrived to help the first victim, a second walked up and said she was also hit.

"She had been struck in the knee cap. It had actually gone into the skin," Barclay said.

So far, investigators believe the darts were launched from a car driving northbound on the bridge. They're working with the Golden Gate Bridge Authority to see if they have any surveillance video to help catch the culprits behind this attack.

Vista Point is one of the most popular places in the Bay Area. Bobby Rai of Newark was there showing his family from London the view. We showed him and his cousin a picture of the dart.

"It is scary; then again you can't hide, like I said. You just go to look out for yourself," Bobby said.

"That's very crazy. You know, these days you don't know what's going to happen especially in SF," Indy Rai of Newark said.

According to the CHP, neither dart seemed to be poisoned. Investigators will return to the scene Saturday with the two victims to pinpoint exactly where they were hit. That way they can figure out when this suspect car was on the bridge.
