FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A car crashed into a Central Fresno living room, where residents say children are normally playing. It happened just after 6:00 Monday night near Belmont and 2nd Street.

Police said the car was trying to avoid stopped traffic and veered into a home. Investigators said after the crash, the driver tried to run away.

One person was inside of the home when he heard a loud crash in the living room.

"I was inside, got done taking a shower. I tried to stop the driver but he just kept going-- he seemed like drunk," said Alex Cirilo, Fresno.

The resident said he is thankful no one else was home at the time because his brother and sister are normally playing in the living room where the car hit.

Police caught up to the suspect down the street and he was taken into custody for possible DUI.
