Fresno community gathers to celebrate Juneteenth
Juneteenth is the commemoration of the official abolishment of slavery. And the event had entertainment, food vendors and kid zones for the community to enjoy.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Members of the community gathered together Saturday to celebrate freedom at the Fresno Juneteenth celebration.

The event had entertainment, food vendors and kid zones for the community to enjoy, and informational booths were also created to showcase the importance of the day.

"Juneteenth definitely is historical, and we started celebrating it back in the 1800s, and we are actually right now in the art exhibit area that is displaying a lot of the history of the slavery days of when we found out that we were no longer slaves," coordinator Kina McFadden said.

The event kicked off with a parade Saturday morning and brought live musicians and B95 radio for the community to celebrate.
