Amazon to break ground on Fresno fulfillment center

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Amazon is breaking ground on a huge distribution center in Southwest Fresno on Monday.

The Amazon Fulfillment Center will be built near Central and Orange. Amazon is expected to hire about 1,500 workers with wages starting at around $15 an hour with benefits.

The facility will ship books, toys and electronics from Fresno. Construction of the nearly one-million square foot center is expected to take about a year.
