KINGSBURG, Calif. (KFSN) -- It is summer time and bath products line the display at the elegant rose booth.

"I make candles and sell them-- I make air plants and succulents, jewelry and bath products," said Shyanna Ward, The Elegant Rose.

At 13-years-old Ward is the owner of The Elegant Rose-- at 11 she started her business.

"I've always liked beauty products and so I tried and I found this store I could sell them in."

Ward sells her products at Trinkets and Treasures in Kingsburg. She learned to make the bath products by watching videos on the internet.

Ward's mentor is business owner Julia Bridges, who took a chance on the then 11-year-old when she asked if she could sell her items there.

"Young people don't get the opportunity like the rest of us sometimes, and I wanted to start that early for some kids that were ready to be mentored."

The two spend time talking about what it takes to run a business. Just like other booth owners, Ward pays rent and pitches in about 15 hours a month at the co-op store.

"I call her my shadow most of the time because she follows me and I want her to know every part of the business, and if the ultimate goal is to have a business I think you need to know more about what you're getting into," said Bridges.

Ward said it has been an experience that's pushed the young entrepreneur.

"I've learned customer service, how to make more products, and how to reach out to other people and stuff."

Ward said the best part of owning her own business is using her creativity to try new products and of course make a little dough. She's financially on her own after paying mom and dad back.

Ward said anyone can dare to dream.

"I think if you truly want to, you can. There's no age limit to trying new stuff."

A young entrepreneur proving there is no limits to what you can create.
