LATINO LIFE FREE SUMMER MEALS FOR CHILDREN
Fresno Unified and Fresno EOC team up to fight hunger

During the school year, Fresno Unified offers 100% free or reduced cost meals. The district wants to make sure children have access to meals during the summer months.

Last summer, FUSD served more than two hundred thousand meals to kids. The meals are for any children ages 1-18. They do not have to be Fresno Unified students. The lunches are available at dozens of sites across the city including a large number of Fresno Unified schools.

Some don't know where their next nutritious meal is coming from. Food is provided with help from the USDA. Fresno Economic Opportunities Commission (Fresno EOC) also provides free meals at its sites throughout the county.

Jessica Baird from Fresno Unified School District and Nasreen Riahizadeh from Fresno EOC shared details with Graciela Moreno on Latino Life.

For a list of sites go to www.fresnounified.org or www.fresnoeoc.org. You can also text the word Food to 877-877 for the site nearest you. It's also available in Spanish by texting the word 'comida' to 877-877.
