Gulf War veterans reunite in Fresno after decades apart

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A group of veterans reunited Saturday with fellow service members they hadn't seen in over 25 years.

Former members of the 2668th Transportation Company who served in Operation Desert Storm gathered at the VFW in central Fresno.

The soldiers deployed back in 1990, and it wasn't until recently that two unit members decided they wanted to hold a reunion. The group says even though so much time has passed, the memories came flooding back and the good times outweigh the bad.

"It's like a family reunion," (retired) Sgt. Willie Tate Jr. said. "A lot of us trained for years prior to the Persian Gulf. So, today, it's like a family reunion."

Organizers say it took them 14 months to plan the reunion, and that it was the internet that helped them find each other.
