A child has died after a deadly roll-over crash in Kern County.

The crash happened Saturday afternoon on Highway 58 near Bakersfield.

California Highway Patrol officers say 26-year-old Latonya Stelly of Merced was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer around 70 to 80 miles an hour.

The vehicle drifted into the center median and struck the concrete divider wall and eventually rolled multiple times before coming to a stop.

Three children, ages eight, seven and five, also from Merced, were ejected from the vehicle. Investigators say the eight-year-old died.

Stelly and the two other children suffered moderate to major injuries.

Authorities say alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
