FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after a fire broke out inside a central Fresno senior apartment complex Monday night.

The fire happened inside the Glen Agnes Elderly Housing Center around 6 p.m. Firefighters found the victim on the first floor of the complex.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but witnesses say the fire happened near the victim's bed and he was disabled.

Firefighters say the blaze was contained to a single unit because of the sprinkler system.

The victim's identity has not been released.

"Let's keep our hopes and prayers that he's going to be alright and that they can do what they can do to help him out," one resident said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the estimated damage is around $40,000.
