Funeral and memorial services announced for Mike "Papa Mike" McGarvin

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Poverello House founder, known as Papa Mike, got his start helping the homeless by serving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out of the back of his car. He died Saturday at the age of 73.

The Poverello House issued the following press release regarding services for McGarvin:

ANNOUNCEMENT OF SERVICES FOR MIKE "PAPA MIKE" MCGARVIN

Services for Mike McGarvin (Papa Mike) will be as follows:

Tuesday July 11, 2017 from 2:00 - 6:00pm - Visitation and viewing

Tuesday July 11, 2017 at 6:00pm - Recitation of the Holy Rosary

Wednesday July 12, 2017 at 10:00am - Mass of Christian Burial, reception to follow

Memorial Service for Papa Mike for homeless clients and any interested persons will be held at Poverello House on July 14, 2017 from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Visitation, Rosary and Mass will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church - 355 E. Champlain Drive, Fresno CA 93730.
