The Fresno County Sheriff's Office said a missing swimmer was reported around 6:20 p.m. Deputies later recovered the body of an 18 or 19-year-old man.

Detectives believe a group of swimmers were playing a game at the lake, and the victim had trouble getting back to the shoreline.

This is the first drowning at the lake this year, according to authorities.

Sheriff's deputies are encouraging swimmers to enjoy lakes, but are also warning the public to take proper safety precautions.
