FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- From the tables at Bulldog Burger Bistro you can get a clear view of Bulldog Stadium while listening to sports chatter from Bulldog fans.

"The option to have a beer would probably be like, 'oh that's pretty enticing,'" said Alvaro Lozano, student.

The news of alcohol returning to Fresno State games spread through this burger joint Wednesday-- where owner and alumni Mathis Smith thinks it's about time.

"It's all about how you monitor it-- I mean a lot of drinking happens outside the stadium. I think in some cases more drinking was happening outside the stadium cause you couldn't drink in the stadium."

The beer ban started back in 2006 after a season of unruly fan behavior. But now the chancellor of CSU said the prohibition can be lifted-- if schools adopt proper guidelines; not all fans agree.

"Those that have already taken pregame shots and stuff like that they're already coming aggressive enough at the gate and they just become a problem throughout. I've already seen games where they've tried to fight security guards," said Diego Nieves, Fresno State fan.

Fresno State is in the process of drafting up a campus policy and said rules at each venue-- from the football stadium to the softball field-- may be different.

"We have pretty good security around the school and I would think that if there was anything that would get out of hand because of the alcohol sales the school would be more than on top of it," said Lozano.

While the prospect of making money likely factored into Fresno State's decision.

"Well I know definitely the revenue, but I'm really hoping just the football team is what brings fans to the seats," said Smith.

Diehard fans like Matias hope it isn't just the alcohol driving people to the games.

Fresno State said it may take a few weeks to finish drafting their policy but they plan to have it in place by the time football starts in the fall.
