Police investigating stabbing after an attempted robbery at a Northwest Fresno Starbucks

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A stabbing investigation is underway after police said someone tried to rob a Starbucks in Northwest Fresno. It happened just after 5:30 Thursday night near Herndon and Golden State.

Investigators said someone walked in with a knife and toy gun demanding money from the barista. A customer saw what was happening and tried to intervene. That customer was stabbed during the confrontation.

The suspect was also hurt but managed to get away.

Police later responded to reports of someone who was bloody near Ashlan and Fruit. Investigators believe he is the suspect, however, they are still investigating. He was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical condition.

The customer is expected to be okay.
