Community holds peace walk to end gang violence in Southwest Fresno
Those who attended walked to several locations where a total of nine victims lost their lives in southwest Fresno this year.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of people joined together at Bigby Villa Park in Fresno to voice their concerns about recent gun violence.

The March for Peace and Prayer Walk vigil was orchestrated by local pastors and leaders. Those who attended walked to several locations where a total of nine victims lost their lives in southwest Fresno this year.

Jim Franklin, the senior pastor at Cornerstone Church, says the goal is to put an end to the ongoing violence in the community.

"It was community coming together to make a statement that we want to see the violence stop and that these streets don't belong to gang members, they belong to the community," he said.

Organizers say they are already planning future peace walks similar to this to help promote change.
