FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Family members are hoping for justice five years after 18-year-old Nicole Jones was murdered in Central Fresno.

They said a trial date has still not been set for her killer-- Tony Leon is still in jail for her murder.

Police said Leon went to settle his girlfriend's fist fight and opened fire on a crowd from a block away. Jones was shot in the face and later died from her injuries. She was an innocent bystander who got to the neighborhood just minutes prior to the shooting to visit a friend.

"It's been hard, she was my only daughter, my only baby, I don't even get to see anything anymore, it's just hard," said Rose Robles, victim's mother.

Jones' mother said until a trial date is set for Leon, their family can't move forward with their grief. She said she knows it won't bring her daughter back, but it will at least give them the closure they need.
