Fire erupts at vacant Fresno apartment for fourth time this year
Even though the structure is supposed to be empty and there is no electricity, investigators say people were living in each of the four abandoned units.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters also had to put out a fire Sunday morning at a possibly vacant central Fresno apartment building.

They poured water all over the building that was once a fourplex, making sure the flames did not spread to a couple adjacent apartment buildings.

Even though the structure is supposed to be empty and there is no electricity, investigators say people were living in each of the four abandoned units.

Now firefighters had to battle another fire at the same building just last month and four over the last year.

"So this is a property that's been on our radar. It's a problem," Fresno Fire Batt. Chief Brian Price explained. "We try to keep it secure. We've had a hard time with maintaining security on it. We're working closely with code enforcement to try and prevent this kind of thing from happening again."

Nobody was hurt in this fire and firefighters do not know exactly how it started.
