16-year-old suspect turns himself in for murder at Merced apartment complex
Investigators say 34-year-old Jose Mireles and the 16-year-old suspect got into an argument outside his apartment back in April before the shots rang out.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- In the North Valley, an arrest has been made in a three-month-old murder case in Merced.

On Wednesday, police say a teenager came forward in the shooting death of 34-year-old Jose Mireles. Investigators say Mireles and the 16-year-old suspect had gotten into an argument outside his apartment back in April.

That is when the suspect opened fire, killing Mireles in front of his two children.

The circumstances behind the argument are still unclear.

The teenager was arrested and booked into the Merced County Juvenile Hall where he now awaits murder charges.
