FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Red Cross is helping a family of five after being displaced by a two-alarm house fire.

The fire broke out around 10 p.m. Monday at a home on Mesa near Bullard and Millbrook. One of the residents smelled smoke coming from the garage. The fire spread to part of the home and the attic.

The family of two adults and three teens were able to get out safely. There is no word on the cause of the fire at this time.

The home did have working smoke detectors, but not in the garage -- where it is legal not to have working detectors.
