World War II veteran celebrates 100th birthday in Clovis
Gordon Cross says he's never had a drink in his life and used to walk nearly 20 miles a day, and he thinks that's his secret to longevity.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- It is a special day for one Central Valley man. Gordon Cross is celebrating his 100th birthday Saturday.

The Clovis resident lived through Pearl Harbor and worked for the post office while in the Navy during World War II.

Cross tells Action News he has never had a drink in his life and used to walk nearly 20 miles a day. He believes that may have something to do with his longevity.

"You hear of things like this, but you just don't realize it's ever going to happen to you," he said. "I've had a good life."

Cross had family come in from Arizona, Oregon, and New Zealand for his centennial birthday celebration.
