FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno firefighters battled a fire that started behind a home in a two-story garage. Authorities said an illegal marijuana grow operation is what caused the fire.
Smoke filled the entire structure and could be seen coming out of attic vents and also collapsed a portion of the roof.
After arriving, firefighters said a big dog in the backyard made it difficult for them to put the fire out.
"We ended up actually knocking out a majority of the fire down by cutting a hole through the exterior wall from the next door neighbor's backyard," Fresno Fire Department Battalion Chief Thomas Cope said.
No one was injured and authorities said the homeowner was not at the home at the time of the fire.
