Bulldogs are ready for a new season

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Volleyball is back at Fresno State.

"I feel like this is the most athletic sport there is. You have to run, jump, dive," said Bulldogs outside hitter Taylor Slover.

In preparations for the regular season the Bulldogs played in the annual alumnae match.

"It's honestly surreal because you get to experience it from a different perspective and it's a lot more light-hearted and it's just fun to come back," said former Bulldog Holly Franks.

"It's kind of like little reunion for everybody. So it feels a little bit like a party but for us it's a good practice match," added Bulldogs head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell.

The team is loaded with upperclassmen and ready to make a run at a Mountain West title this year.

"We're grown up. I think that experience is going to pay off dividends for use this year," said Netherby-Sewell.

Experience, translating on and off the volleyball court.

"You are going to see these alums who are all very successful in all that they do," said Netherby-Sewell. "I think athletics, being a student athlete has a big impact on that and we hope to make really good citizens out of our Bulldogs."
