Separate overnight crashes in Merced leave two dead
The first happened around 1:20 a.m. on Highway 59 and Sandy Mush. The second crash was around 6 a.m. when a woman crashed into a pillar under on Highway 99 near 16th Avenue.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two people are dead after a pair of fatal accidents in Merced.

The first happened overnight Sunday around 1:20 a.m. on Highway 59 and Sandy Mush. Investigators say the 31-year-old driver lost control and flipped her car.

The second crash was around 6 a.m. when a woman crashed into a pillar under on Highway 99 near 16th Avenue.

Drugs and alcohol have not been ruled out in both accidents and the driver's identities are still unknown.
