Many here in the Valley are worried about loved ones who live in the areas impacted

Fresno, Calif. (KFSN) -- Many here in the Valley are worried about loved ones who live in the areas impacted by yesterday's massive earthquake.

The Mexican Consulate in Fresno is lending its support to anyone who has not been able to reach family or friends in Mexico. Consulate officials say they have received several phone calls and people have been stopping by their office at Ingram and Alluvial Avenues.

The agency is helping people locate family members through a government search system in Mexico. Those wanting to make a donation are being directed to Mexico's Red Cross.

"There's a lot of people in the community asking how they can help Mexico right now and we are sending them, trying to coordinate the solidarity of the people here," said Santiago Cortes-Alcocer, Consulate administration.

If you have relatives in Mexico and have not been able to get in touch with them, there is a helpline you can call or you can contact the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. Click here.

Facebook has also set up its safety check. Google is helping people find loved ones as well -- with their "person finder" feature.
