Fermin Castellanos, 50, is accused of causing the collision that killed a woman -- then left the scene.

It happened a little after 6:00 p.m., police say a woman was crossing the street when she was hit by a car.

Police say the suspect driving that car initially stopped after hitting the victim, then took off and left her there.

When police got to the neighborhood at Winery and Butler, they found her with major injuries. She was then rushed to Community Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the victim is a black female in her 30s or 40s. They are still trying to determine if the victim was jaywalking, but that is still under investigation.
