FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An early morning house fire revealed a marijuana grow. The fire was reported by neighbors just after 5:30 Wednesday morning.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting up from the roof. They immediately took a defensive mode working to knock down the fire and keep it from moving to neighboring homes.

Fresno Fire Department Cpt. Frank Gibson said, "We focused on the exterior exposures and then started putting water on it from outside. And then we put the ladder pipe up and started knocking the fire down."

The home is a complete loss and firefighters said they found marijuana plants and evidence of a grow operation like special platforms and a modified electrical set up.

It is not yet known if this caused the fire.

Two to three rooms were being used to grow the marijuana.
