Police chase ended with gunfire in South Valley
Garcia watched as Lemoore Police chased a woman out of his neighborhood and back in.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The gunfire erupted after officers got a call about a stolen phone in this neighborhood near Iona and Vine last night.

Authorities tell us when they showed up, a woman was seen getting out of a truck with a butcher knife.

Investigators say she then ran towards her ex-girlfriend who made the report with the weapon in her hand.

A witness nearby describes the frightening scene that happened seconds later.

"I could hear them hollering at whoever the occupant was to 'get down get down get down,' within 30 seconds I heard a shot go off," said Reuben Garcia.

"You see it on television, you see it everywhere else, but to see it here on your own street, that's like everybody else. Things happen--but yeah you wouldn't expect it on your own street, absolutely not."

The woman was rushed to the hospital. Her current condition is unknown. The officer involved in the shooting suffered minor injuries. They have been placed on paid administrative leave.
