Cybersecurity researchers say they can fool the new iPhone X's face ID feature with a simple mask made from 150 dollars in supplies.

The new device allows users to unlock it simply by looking at the phone.

Apple said its engineering team collaborated with professional mask makers and make-up artists in Hollywood to protect against attempts to beat face ID.

But hackers at Vietnamese cybersecurity firm say the biometric security feature is less secure than Apple has suggested.

Their team created a mask using a combination of 3- d printing with make-up and 2- d images to dupe the facial recognition system.

Some who have viewed the video criticized the company for a lack of information regarding whether the mask was registered with the phone.

Or if the phone had been trained to recognize it over multiple failed attempts.
