FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Volunteers with Operation Christmas Child gathered in Fresno Sunday to spread holiday cheer around the world.

Thousands of shoeboxes were packed with fun toys, school supplies, and hygiene items.

They will be taken to children in need overseas who do not have the opportunity to celebrate Christmas.

The Fresno area team of volunteers hope to collect more than 26,000 shoebox gifts to go towards the 2017 global goal of reaching 12 million children.

The last day to donate is Monday.

You can bring gifts to the Calvary Chapel of Fresno on Shields Avenue from 9 am to 5 pm.
