No matter how prepared you are with your Thanksgiving shopping list, you always wind up having to go back to the store to get back into line.

Fortunately, the doors will be open on Thanksgiving at places like Save Mart in Northeast Fresno because at least one item on the menu gets forgotten.

"Tomorrow will be a lot of people with a lot of little items. Either getting their half and half, their dinner rolls, a celery, gravy--something to take to grandma's house," Jon-Michael Carroll.

The American Farm Bureau Federation says the average cost of a Thanksgiving dinner for 10 is down 75-cents from a year ago to $49.12 which includes your sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie.

Ryan Jacobsen of the Fresno County Farm Bureau says it was an unexpected dip.

"The cost of turkey is down and then second behind that was everything that has any association with milk products, whether that's butter or a gallon of milk. Because overall production of milk being increased this year we are seeing declining prices," said Jacobsen.

Save Mart store manager Jon-Michael Carroll says food shows have led to more creative meals at Thanksgiving.

"Whether it be a bacon-wrapped turkey or infused with something or another turkey."

But some people just do not have time to prepare a large meal for family and friends. Carroll has noticed a dramatic rise in sales of holiday turkey, ham and prime rib meals which you can just pick up to warm up at home.
