A family is homeless after a fire tore through their apartment in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The fire happened just before six pm at the Swiss Colony Apartment Complex on Cedar and Dayton Avenues.

Crews say when they first arrived, heavy smoke and fire could be seen coming out of the building.

More than 20 people were evacuated while firefighters put out the flames. Authorities say they were able to contain the fire to just two apartments on the second floor.

Right now the cause of the fire is being looked into by an arson investigator.

Officials say no one was injured.
