As the holiday season kicks off experts are saying people will spend more this year

'Tis the season for the Christmas cheer and Christmas decor.

Erin Melkonian, of Erin Melkonian Interior Design, said, "For me, it's about creating memories."

Melkonian loves to decorate for Christmas, so much so, she's decorating for a good cause.

"A portion of the proceeds that we make from all of the stylings will go to the EPU Children Center."

Melkonian said while they decorate people's homes, you can also dress up your own. She recommends bringing in natural elements to dress up your mantle and table.

"Maybe add a little twist. Here on this tablescape, we have kumquat branches that I cut down from my tree this morning. I have Meyer lemons, pretty burlap, things you can find around your home."

But most of al Melkonian said let your tree shine and leave a little something fun for the kids.

It's not just about decorating the inside of your house but the outdoors as well. Employees tell us displays are going fast and spreading cheers across the Valley.


This year everything Disney is popular, as well as blowups that you can put on your roof or lawn. Many people also like the look of standup wire decorations.

Store employees at Lowes said the store has been Selling Christmas decorations like hot cakes.

"Everybody is changing to led lights. The average person, I would say, spent about $350 on every cart that went out of here on Black Friday on Christmas lights and decorations," said Bud Johnson, Lowes employees.

The Snells were out buying holiday decorations for their home and their daughter's memory care facility.

JoAnn Snell of Fresno said, "We've been here several times since Black Friday, and a lot of things are gone. I'm surprised but I'm not. People just want to put that spirit out there."
