The new year will bring new changes to Roeding Park.

Purple pipe and sprinklers are now part of the landscape at Roeding Park. Work is still being done to set up the system but this summer recycled water from the city's water treatment plant will be used to irrigate plants and keep the grass green.

Parvin Neloms said, "Obviously California has drought issues and for us, we're always implementing programs in respect to green space. Always building, park building so it's vital that we continue to have our green space irrigated."

Parvin Neloms Jr. Is the City of Fresno's Parks, After School, Recreation and Community Services Director.

The southeast portion of Roeding Park will feature something new. A structure will be constructed where families can go inside and enjoy butterflies.

"We're really excited about our new environmental garden that we're actually building on 17,000 square footage land. From an environmental standpoint, we're going to have a Butterfly Garden out there was well," Neloms Jr. said.

The Butterfly Garden would be part of the park and not the Chaffee Zoo.
