FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The United States Geological Survey (USGS) is reporting a 2.9 magnitude earthquake struck near Squaw Valley early Thursday morning.
The earthquake struck at 5:00 a.m. about 11 miles northwest of Squaw Valley near the north shore of Pine Flat Lake.
Residents in the area called Action News to say they heard a loud boom that sounded like an explosion when the quake hit. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or damages from the earthquake.
