One person killed after crash on Highway 41

One person is dead following a traffic collision just before 8 p.m. on Highway 41 and American Avenue.

CHP officers say a pickup had the green light driving south on Highway 41 when a car heading west on American Avenue ran the red light and hit the truck.

Two people inside the truck were rushed to the hospital with major injuries. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
