Fundraiser held for family of man killed by drunk driver
Carlos Ortega lost his life two days after Christmas.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Like most restaurants, people at Chronic Tacos in Northwest Fresno waited in line to place their orders on Thursday night. It was not just the menu that drew people out, but the desire to support a family in need.

Carlos Ortega lost his life two days after Christmas. He and his family were driving back from a party when a drunk driver crashed into them taking Ortega's life and sending his wife and two sons to the hospital. One of his boys is in the Central California Soccer Alliance. The soccer club rallied together to help the family with a fundraiser.

"The boys and all of us on the team have gotten really close and it is just a way for us to do something," said Justin Fortmeyer a member of the Central California Soccer Alliance.

Members of Ortega's car club, Team Second Development also joined the cause, including one of his closest friends Kevin Louie.

"He was the kind of brother you wish you had, he was a son, a father, he was all that rolled into one," said Louie.

Louie remembers Ortega as a dedicated friend who would go above and beyond for anyone.

"At 35-years-old he touched a lot of people in this world," said Ortega.

People now get a chance to give back and impact the lives of Ortega's family in the same way he impacted them.
