3 flown to hospital after crash in Madera County
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic accident in Madera County that left three people badly injured.

MADERA COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic accident that left three people badly injured. It happened shortly after 11 a.m. Saturday in Madera County.

Officers say a Nissan pickup truck traveling northbound on Road 17 1/2 briefly stopped and then pulled into the intersection at Highway 152. They say a Honda Accord going eastbound on the highway crashed into the left side of the truck.

One person in the truck was ejected and pinned under the vehicle. The CHP says that person and the two other people in the truck suffered major injuries and were flown to the hospital. Investigators say it does not appear that anyone in the Nissan was wearing a seat belt.

One person in the Honda had minor injuries. The other people in the car appeared to be OK.

Investigators say there is no reason to suspect that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the crash.
