Car flips over on busy street after colliding in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- On a busy Central Fresno road, a Sunday afternoon drive for the man behind the wheel of an SUV took a turn for the worst.

The driver veered off the road, crashed into a metal freeway sign and nearly hit a car preparing to pull out of a fast food restaurant.

Augie Rubio was inside his tattoo parlor when the accident happened.

Surveillance video shows Rubio running out to help. It even captures another man crossing at least six lanes of traffic to do the same and all around, even more people racing over to provide assistance.

Rubio says he was touched by the outpouring of support. So much so that he recorded this cell phone video explaining to a Fresno police officer what this moment meant to him.

"I just want to show how the city came together right now I mean from everyone people came out and really helped before the police showed up," Rubio said.

A moment he says restored his faith in humanity right here in the Central Valley.
